Teachable Spirit Poem

Teachable Spirit Poem

A Teachable Spirit
Is one when a friend speaks, you hear it.
And as pride wells up inside, you don’t go near it.
Because Pride is the wall you build between you and the spirit

Its when humility becomes the word of the day
Thats not the kind where kids are laughing and pointing in play
No, its the humility that zips your mouth and opens your ears
For the words you desperately want, but hate to hear

Its sitting across from someone who cares
Not looking off with a cold faced stare
As the person who loves you speaks out in despair
Of the things you want, but hate to hear

A teachable spirit for those who yet do not know
Is the spirit that takes you beyond to the things beyond you know

A teachable spirit is something truly distinct
Its peaceful and quiet, mixed with raw gut instinct
It opens your future to visions so grand
That without the creator of the universe, impossible to understand

It takes great courage to have a teachable spirit
But it comes with baggage so heavy most wont go near it
Because not all wisdom comes from a voice soft and nice
Its usually delivered with strong tones of bitter
Yet meant to be helpful and change your life.

Go ahead now and read this twice
Because if you don’t hear this now you will pay the price
A price to high for any one man to pay
Except for my Jesus on that glorious day.

Where he defined teachable and gave the holy spirit to those who believe
So if you don’t know him, ask and you shall receive
And be taught by the greatest teacher ever conceived

A teachable spirit is the basis of a life ready to grow
If you are not teachable I guess you’ll never know!
